On a dreadful rain sodden day, a poor game confirmed Matlock as Derbyshire’s premier club.
Matlock took the lead after only 6 minutes with a Chris Young penalty and in all honesty, never looked like losing it.
The Matlock forwards drove over for a try after 22 minutes and repeated the trick after 24 minutes of the second half. A further Chris Young penalty completed the scoring.
Derby again struggled to cope with the Matlock forwards; this is their third defeat against the same opposition this season.
It is an indication of the pressure that the Derby team found itself under that 3 players spent 10 minutes in the sin bin; Richie Robinson, Elliot Spencer and Daryl Banton.
The rain continued to pour as Mark Bradley ended his reign as Derby coach. Good luck to Mark at Nottingham; he deserved a better finish for all the commitment he has shown over the seasons.
Derby must now move on; a new coaching team is required. Next season will be tough, but all members need to get behind their club and aim upwards !
Have a good summer – let’s hope the rain stops!
