The annual presentation day for Mini's
and Juniors was, as ever, a day for celebration of both
achievement and participation. There wasn't a seat left in
the place, with so many players, Mum's and Dad's, Brother
and Sisters and I suspect some proud Grandparents and
Aunt's and Uncles too!
It has been another successful year for
the section in all sorts of ways, we have even more
members again this year, many successes on the field and
some new Companies helping us with Sponsorship
opportunities, a special thanks of course going to CIS for
the kit deal for all age groups. There have been a number
of festival and tournament victories in the mini's during
the season, and finalist and semi finalist places in the
NLD competitions for the juniors, well done to everyone
concerned once again. We should not forget the Gullivers
Tournament of course, five squads attending this year,
from under 9's to under 13's, all doing very well in the
competition and gaining even more experience from this
event. We have two of those squads through the finals day
at Twickenham on the 30th May, under 9's and under 10's
will represent the club in the prestigious event as the
curtain raiser to the England v Barbarians match in the
afternoon, very well done to all concerned.
The day included the now annual match
of Vets v Coaches, a tremendous game taking place and
provided an entertaining afternoon of "rugby",
the Vet's achieved victory this year, but the coaches will
be back in force again I'm sure!!
A special new award was included in the
presentations this year, the new Clubman of the Year cup,
named after it's first recipient, "The Milligan
Cup", was awarded to Roger Milligan for his tireless
support within the club over so many years, well done
Roger. Photos of Roger receiving his trophy are to the
left of this page.
So, we look forward to a summer break
before training begins again, enjoy the rest everyone
because September is only just around the corner!

Footnote from the webmaster - You'll see that on this page that there's loads
of photos from the Presentations and also from the Vets v Coaches
game. As usual to enlarge a photo just click on it.
Coaches or anyone else !!! - I'm not sure of
the names of some of the recipients of the various awards, can I ask that you
look at your respective Age group awards and check that I have
correctly named the right people and if there are any blank
names/awards please let me know who they are. You can email me at brian.leverington@derbyrfc.com
and I'll then make the necessary changes - thanks.
