As an introduction to the new club grounds at Haslams Lane a sponsored walk was arranged for the Mini's & Juniors section of Derby RFC starting off at the Mundy Centre in Markeaton Park (close to the old clubhouse on Kedleston Road). Funds were raised for the Derbyshire Children's Hospital, Ronnie MacKeith Centre for child development. This centre provides an invaluable service to children of all ages in accessing and providing both medical and developmental help and support to children and their families. This includes children with both physical and learning/developmental difficulties. Much of the funding has to be found from outside the NHS budget, as so many centres like this one, and this is an opportunity to promote both the club and the centre through the children's activities.
