Today the Mini's & Juniors section of Derby RFC held their annual Mini's festival,
and for the first time it was here at our new ground of Haslams. As
always there was a good turnout of Clubs with Teams in all age groups
from Under 7's right through to Under 12's. There were 45 teams taking part
from Doncaster, Ilkeston, Paviors, Dinnington, Melbourne, Nottingham, Chesterfield and Notts Casuals.
Just like last year, the standard of Rugby
across all of the age groups was excellent, supporters from all Clubs
applauded the efforts and skills of everyone taking part.
On this webpage I've
put together a wide selection of Photos from a number of the games that took place
throughout the day along with some general photos. Click on any photo to
enlarge it.
The day appeared to run
very smoothly and as always this just doesn't happen on its own, a lot
of people put in a great deal of time and effort to make the day such
a success and as such these 'behind the scenes' people deserve a great
deal of credit.
Martyn Murney (Chairman
of the Mini & Junior section here at Derby RFC) adds - "Some
600 children took part today, enjoying some excellent rugby and fun to
boot ! Even the weather behaved itself and we somehow dodged the
showers to make the day enjoyable all around. A special mention to the
Under 14's coaches, parents and squad for their tremendous work on the
administration and running of the day, well done guys ! This was the
first festival at Haslams and we now know that we can build on this
success and make the next one just as good ! My personal thanks to the
ladies who worked hard with Christian Burdge on the Saturday to
provide all the children with packed lunches for the day."
